Travelers without the full name on Indian passports barred from Entering UAE
Travelers without the full name on Indian passports barred from Entering UAE

As per the new advisory issued by Emirate, Air India and AI Express have declared that passengers with single-name on their passports are banned from entering UAE. They will not be allowed to travel to/from UAE.

Now Indians must have their full names on their passport to be allowed entry to the UAE. This means that both the first and last names of the travelers need to be clearly declared. This new rule came into effect on 21st November 2022.  However the passengers who are travelling to the UAE on residential or employment visas are exempted from this rule.

“However, passengers with a single name on passports and in possession of a residence permit or employment visa shall be allowed to travel provided the same name is updated in the “First Name” and “Surname” columns,” was the statement by Indigo airlines.

So, it is advised to UAE travelers to ensure that their passports must have both their primary (First Name) and secondary (Surname/Last Name) names.

All the airlines are following the new instructions and thus travel agents are requesting passengers to wait for further information before applying for a visa or making any changes to their existing documents.
