Kolkata holds Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport also known as Kolkata International Airport. Located in the eastern region of India this airport is spread over an area of 2,460 acres and is located 17 km from the main city Centre. The airport’s new integrated terminal is spread over 233,000 square meters that can handle around 25 million passengers annually. It has a total of six levels with 128 check-in counters and 78 immigration counters for the ease of passengers. It is the main and largest hub for air traffic in the eastern part of the country.

Terminal Information:

The Kolkata Airport (CCU) airport has one large terminal that works for both domestic as well as international flights. All the kiosks, check-in desks, and services are different at the passenger terminal for both the categories of arrivals i.e. international and domestic. The terminal is spread over an area of 233,000 square meters that is able to hold about 25 million passengers annually. Divided into six levels there are 128 check-in counters, 78 immigration counters, and twelve customs counters.

Smoking is prohibited in the airport but there are certain designated spots located both airside and landside.

Duty-Free & Shopping:

At Kolkata International airport you can enjoy a Duty-free shopping facility on both Arrivals and Departures levels of the International wing of the terminal. 

Parking Area:

At Kolkata International Airport, there is a space for 3000 underground and 2000 outdoor parking spaces. It is paid to park so you have to pay 100 rupees for 2 hours, 120 rupees for 3 hours, 140 rupees for 4 hours, and more.

 Transport Facility: 

Taxi:

The simplest way to travel from the airport is the taxi. You will find a rank of taxis in the Arrivals area. There are government prepaid taxi available that runs 24 hours. Booking counters are available near the exit of the arrivals hall and outside the terminal near gates 3 and 4. 

Cabs:

There's a kiosk operated by the private company Mega Cabs that are slightly costlier than a taxi but are a great option. These are metered taxis to which you have to pay cash after you reach your destination. Also, Uber and Ola Cabs operate from the airport and are the most convenient option.

Bus:

The nearest bus stop is just a walking distance of 15 minutes from Kolkata Airport. There are several bus lines that connect the airport to different routes. The West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) operates reasonably-priced, air-conditioned bus services between the airport and various locations in Kolkata so it is a great option for travelers.
